17.5 Million Birr Worth Food Puchased For Resetllers In Oromiya

Addis Ababa, May 21(ENA)-- Relief food was purchased with 17.5 million Birr allocated by the Oromiya State Administration in support of resettlers in the state, the State Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Desk said.

The 126,000 quintals of relief will be supplied to 105,000 resettlers in East, West, West Shewa and Illubabor zones in the state, Information and Public Relations Services Head with the desk, Alemayehu Dumesa told ENA on Friday.

The resttlers were supposed to be self-reliant in food in 10 months, but they were moved to the fertile areas after farming season has passed and that was why they were being provided with food aid, Alemayehu said.

The food would be apportioned among the resettlers until the coming October, he said.
