10 Schools Are Provided With Light Service From Solar Energy

Dire Dawa May 19(ENA)-- Some 10 schools have been provided with light service from solar energy for the expansion of adult education and radio program in their night session, Dire Dawa administrative council water, mineral and energy office announced.

The head, Mohammed Amin told ENA that the office, using 240,000 birr secured from the government, put up the solar energy apparatus that have a capacity of providing an eight-hour light service per day and a 24-hour radio service.

The light service would help adults and youths to attend classes in the night session that would otherwise be impossible, he said.

The council's education and culture office is executing the teaching and learning activities in the night session by enrolling about 4,200 adult and youths in 35 education centers, Mohammed said.
