Ethiopian Farmers Who Visit Austria Say Draw Important Lessons

GoNder.May.18(ENA)--Farmers in North Gondar Zone of Amhara State who pay a two-week visit to Austria recently said they had got important lessons from their counterparts in Austria in the area of food security.

The farmers told ENA that the experience they gained in water harvesting activity has a significant importance to them which they would share to their colleagues here.

They said they also learned how to prepare and utilize natural fertilizers by using local inputs.

The farmers said they visited forest and farmlands, dairy product processing factories and modern poultry in Austria.

They also said they visited farm and soil research centers, water harvesting, bee keeping and fodder development activities in that country.

The Zonal Integrated Animal Resource Development Project which is financed by the Government of Austria organized the visit for the ten member farmers’ team.
