Establishment and Progress of the Organization

Abebech Gobena Yehtsnant kebekabena Limatt Dirijit (AGOHELD), is a registered an indigenous non-governmental and non-political humanitarian organization founded by a Lady  Called W/ro Abebech Gobena during a severe  draught caused famine in 1980 in the northern part of Ethiopia.

Abebech Gobena, founder and General Manager of AGOHELD, started her humanitarian work after she found a baby sucking her dead mother’s breast.  She took two babies from the famine affected areas to Addis Ababa and gradually increased the number to 21, but her humanitarian activities put her in conflict with her family. Finally Abebech abandoned her decent marriage and moved to a small poultry house, where she continued her humanitarian activities for six challenging years. From the very beginning, Abebech stressed self reliance to finance her projects   to the  extent of selling her jewelry and other possessions  and also run small businesses acumen to raise finance.
