Plant Genetic Resources Center

Plant Genetic Resources Center is a center under the Institute of Biodiversity Conservation and Research (IBCR), which caters principally for plant genetic resource conservation. It has five operational departments dealing with genetic resource, viz. Field Crops, Pasture and Forage, Horticultural Crops, Medicinal Plants and Forest Genetic Resources. Each Department is further subdivided into units according to work requirements. These departments undertake the collection, conservation, multiplication, characterization/evaluation researches, utilization and documentation of the various categories of plants in line with their departmental responsibilities and duties. Moreover, the center has cold storage and herbarium unit that provides services in conservation and identification and classification of plants.
