Council Designs Strategy Enabling To Ensure Good Governance In South Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, May 21(ENA)-- The South Ethiopian nations and Nationalities' Council has designed a Three-Year Strategic Plan aimed at ensuring good governance in the state.

Council Speaker, Tekle Didu told ENA on Friday that the Strategy would help further strengthen the unity among the 56 nations and nationalities residing in the state while ensuring to exercise their cultural rights using their vernacular languages.

The strategy would enable to identify and resolve differences that may arise among the nations and nationalities thereby help bring about a lasting peace, he said.

The Council would also formulate Conflict Resolution Guidance, Tekle said.

He said mass media on their part should play a leading role in bringing together nations and nationalities by introducing their culture and languages.

It has also issued several bills and guidance aimed at equipping the office of the council with the necessary human and material resources since it has been reorganized since last February, Tekle said.

The council that comprise 63 members was established with the objective of studying the identities of nations and nationalities, their languages and resolving conflicts
