Agricultural Enumeration Study results to be launched Thursday
Addis Ababa, May 19(ENA)--The outcome of the Agricultural Sample Enumeration that has been conducted for the first time on a national level would be made public here Thursday, the Central Statistics Authority said.
The outcome of the study conducted in 1994 E.C. and 1996 E.C. in the farming and pastoralist areas respectively would serve as data base for agricultural development led industrialization strategy Ethiopia is pursuing, head of natural resource and agriculture department with the authority Girma Tadesse told ENA on Wednesday.
The study has covered production amount, types and quantity of agricultural implements, animals and their products as well as information about size of ploughed land.
The Agricultural Sample Enumeration has also treated the number of farmers engaged in extension and participation of women in the agricultural sector, Girma indicated.
The head said the study is different from other studies in that it enables to get information on woreda level.
This study also helps as a stepping stone for other agricultural enumeration studies that would be conducted in the future, Girma said.
High government officials are expected to take part at the launching of the study results that has been carried out at a cost of over 200 million Birr.
