Needless to say that the Dodola-destination will not satisfy as a confined tourist resort catering for prolonged leisure holidays. We rather target budget travellers, hikers, hill-walkers, back packers, nature lovers, bird watchers, eco-tourists, ethno-explorers, fitness fans, globetrotters, mountaineers, trekking buffs or adventure travellers. Tourists
with less basic requirements will surely like the experience but might
prefer being catered for by a professional tour operator during their mountain
trip (see Links). Visitors
we received in Dodola so far were quite untypical and very varied. A common
feature was that they went back highly enthusiastic about the experience.
Check it out yourself. Maybe your particular profile will expand our current
classification: ·Overseas
visitors (independently travelling ones or those being catered for by commercial
tour operators) ‘exploring’ Ethiopia and choosing Dodola for acontrast
to other parts of their program; ·Travellers with a special interest in Ethiopia’s endemic plant and animal species; ·Residents
of the expatriate community in Ethiopia (wishing to know the ‘other’ Ethiopia
during long weekends or short holidays); ·Members
of development organisations or missions (for field studies, project visits,
staff excursions or team building retreats); ·Research
students from local or overseas universities (for individual field studies
or group excursions); ·Pupils
of local schools (for activities of environmental awareness creation); ·Ethiopian
nationals (mostly living abroad and staying in the country for a holiday). Get to know the destination [continue]. 14
